About / History
Drum World started in 1979 by the late Don Sfarzo, (Angelo's House of Music) in San Francisco CA, with drum lessons from Bob Frediani. Ever since then we have been fortunate to serve the Bay Area's percussion needs. We moved to San Mateo in the late 90's and continued the tradition of top notch service, sales, repairs, clinics and lessons by various local instructors. We featured not only selected new kits from prominent drum manufacturers, but a large selection of vintage and custom drums as well. Times change, eras come and go!
Drum World, like A Drummer's Tradition in San Rafael, previously San Francisco's Drumland, San Jose's Lemmon Percussion and San Jose Pro Drum, were in many ways a throwback to the old music store vibe, where you could find out invaluable things just by talking to the staff and fellow drum shoppers.
